Lukes talk

Today, we had the head of film come in and talk about some things that we should keep in mind when coming up with our music video concepts. He also showed us some low budget music video examples that kept to these rules.

The Do’s and Don’ts from Luke

• Think of this as a real production company

• Different from television

• Biggest marketing tool for music companies

• Think in a low budget way

• Not high budget production

• Keep the set build simple for production

• Be realistic

The reason this really sticks out is because of the simplicity of the set and how they really just relied on their creativity to make the video work. Whilst their creativity lied mostly in the narrative and how they revealed things in reverse, I would take the way they used creativity and focus it towards the way we film it in terms of shots and be creative there. For example, the angle of the shot and the aesthetics instead of something involving a big set and a complex concept because it would end up being too much stuff going on and it would look messy...
